After a person has died, a Certificate of Personal Data can be issued. You can get the certificate if you are a:
- spouse
- parent
- descendant over 18 years of age
- a person who has custody of the deceased
- or if you are a guardian of the descendant
Please note: You can also order a certificate for a deceased person if you have a power of attorney from one of the persons mentioned above.
It must be stated in the power of attorney that you (full name and date of birth) have been authorized in writing, by (full name and date of birth) to collect a Certificate of Personal Data on his/her behalf. The power of attorney must be physically signed by the principal and must not be scanned and emailed.

You must order the certificate in person by attending any parish in Denmark. If you are the notifier of the death, and you have questions about the funeral, you may contact the funeral authority.
The funeral authority is the parish of residence if the deceased lived in Denmark or the parish where the funeral took place.
