Apply by using the self-service with MitID
You must complete an application for a name for your child. If you have joint custody, one of the parents must initiate the application and sign it followed by the other parent’s co-signature. The application is then automatically sent for processing at the local registrar.

Co-sign the application online
To co-sign an application online, you must find the email receipt and click on the link that leads to the self-service for co-signing with MitID. You can also co-sign by clicking on the below mentioned link

Please note: if you are using the same computer, please log off the browser in between the two signatures. A digital application is only valid for co-signing in 14 days after commencement, then a new application must be initiated to co-sign.
Apply on paper
If you or the other parent do not have MitID, or are exempt from mandatory self-service or Digital Post, you must print and complete an application for name on paper, which must be handed in or sent by ordinary post to your local registrar. The application must not be sent by email.

When and how will you be notified?
Once your child's name has been registered in the CPR, you will receive a receipt and a Certificate of Personal Data in your Digital Post. If you have applied using an application on paper, you will receive a Certificate of Personal Data (in Danish “Personattest”) by ordinary post.

If your child was born abroad
If your child was born abroad, you must attend your local Borgerservice (Citizen Service Centre) in your municipality to have your child registered in the CPR. Remember to bring the documents (Certificate of Birth, etc.) that you received from the country where your child was born.
If your child is not named, you can apply on paper and bring the application to your local registrar.

If you want to appeal
If you want to lodge an appeal, your local registrar must inform you how to lodge the appeal. You must send the appeal to your local registrar. The appeal and all the documents relating to the case are then sent to the Agency of Family Law, that processes the appeal. You will receive a reply to your appeal from the Agency of Family Law.
