Not everyone is entitled to get a certificate.
You are entitled to a certificate if you were either:
- born in Denmark
- adopted by international foreign adoption
- baptised in the Danish National Church (Folkekirken)
- married in the Danish National Church (Folkekirken)
- - or if you had a name change after 1 April 2006
Please note: if you were registered at birth in a recognized religious community in Denmark you must contact the recognized religious community for a certificate.
If you do not meet the above conditions, you must contact your foreign embassy.

Exception in matters of death
If a person is dead in Denmark, it is possible for the nearest related to get a certificate confirming the death.

Access to Register (In Danish “Registerindsigt”)
If you are not entitled to a certificate as described above, you can download a CPR an Access to Register on borger.dk with MitID. Please note, however, that this document does NOT have the same legal validity as a certificate.
